Today, our intrepid travelers explored one of Cezanne’s favorite sights to paint, Mont Sainte-Victoire. Located just outside Aix, this mountain is surrounded by a park, popular with hikers. After we met at the entrance, we walked across the dam that serves as a dramatic starting point. We spent about an hour hiking before stopping to play some games, and then a little later on, a picnic lunch next to a lovely brook. It was a casual day full of time to have conversations and take in nature. Students braved the heat as they hiked back to enjoy a weekend with their families. It sounds like there are many fun things planned, from visits with grandparents to exploring national parks to trips to the famous markets in Aix.
