June 15: Climbing Mont Sainte-Victoire

Today we went to Mont Sainte-Victoire, and without climbing to the top, we spent the day fording streams (with just a bit of wet feet), picnicking in the fields, playing football and volleyball, and enjoying the PERFECT Provençal weather. The hike was pretty long, up and down, and challenging at times, but no one found it too much, and all the kids were happy to top it off with time swimming at Eliot’s pool after. And not even one raindrop today!

The students will spend the next three days with their French families, who have planned many exciting adventures. Angelo’s family is having a potluck party for everyone staying near Aix on Saturday night. We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday as we spend more time in Aix and visit the Atelier of the Post-Impressionist painter Paul Cezanne. Perhaps we may make a little art of our own, too!
