What a wonderful morning in Cádiz. After completing their final lessons, students participated in a graduation ceremony and received two documents: a “certificado” with grades, and a “diploma” for two weeks’ attendance. The students received many smiles, hugs, and applause!

We then headed out on our final adventure as a group: Gibraltar. Situated at the southern extreme of the Iberian peninsula, Gibraltar is actually a part of the UK, so technically we visited England today! It’s a beautiful site with lots of mythology, history, scenic views, and 300 monkeys. During one of his 12 Labors, Hercules is said to have smashed straight through the mountain, thereby creating the cliffs that flank the waterway connecting the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Our first stop was a scenic overlook where we could clearly see the coast of Africa just a few dozen kilometers away. Next, we stopped to pal around with some of the “monos” and take several monkey-inspired selfies, before entering Saint Michael’s cave, where we were treated to a light show that beautifully illuminated the natural contours of the cave features. Finally, we headed back down the cliff, stopping halfway for one final view of the city and bay below. Onto Cádiz for our final dinner and a night of packing. See you all tomorrow!
