June 21: Lama Temple and the Temple of Heaven

Writer: The Rivers SchoolThe Rivers School

Rain fell in Beijing today, which was a refreshing reprieve from some of the summer heat the group has been experiencing. Donning a rainbow of ponchos, the group visited both the Lama Temple and the Temple of Heaven. In particular, the students appreciated the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests at the Temple of Heaven, due to the distinctive triple-gabled, circular architecture. For lunch, the group ate Jiaozi, which are dumplings that are freshly made and either boiled or steamed. The students enjoyed trying over 12 different types of fillings in their dumplings!
