Another great day in beautiful Cádiz. The weather treated us well. There was a delightful breeze that made for a beautiful day of walking and exploring the city. In the morning, the students continued to expand their linguistic horizons in their grammar class, in addition to having informal conversations during breaks with the Spanish students sharing the same school. This has become one of their favorite activities. For our afternoon cultural excursion, we climbed the many steps of the Torre Tavira and enjoyed the best views of Cádiz. We went back in time to the 18th century when, thanks to trade with the West Indies, Cádiz was at its most magnificent. The tower is the highest point of the old town, and with the help of its camera oscura we had an up-close panoramic view of the city. We then toured the Cádiz Museum, where we journeyed from Phoenician and Roman era Cádiz to 20th century Spanish painting. We ended our evening with a stroll along the Caleta, one of the most beautiful beaches in Cádiz. The students will have plenty to write about tonight in their journals this evening!
